What To Expect
Though doctor’s appointments can be stressful for some patients, a regular wellness visit is an easy opportunity to check in with your doctor—and give and receive updates on your health!
Please arrive for your appointment leaving ample time to fill out any paperwork. We like to keep up to date with our patients and ensure we have the most accurate information as we continue to treat you throughout the year. Once you’ve filled out any necessary forms, your provider will see you as quickly as they are able.
The first step in a Wellness Visit is a quick physical examination. This includes taking your weight, blood pressure, and other easy exams as is appropriate. This goal here is to gauge your physical well-being and make sure you’re healthy and comfortable.
Once we’ve evaluated your health and fitness, your physician will sit down and discusses how you’re doing. This is the perfect time to mention to your doctor if there are any issues you’ve been dealing with or concerns you want addressed. It’s essential you be open and honest with your doctor to make sure they can provide you with the best care possible.
This step of a Wellness Visit may take more or less time, depending on what screenings make sense and what conditions you are dealing with. This process can include screening for diabetes, cancer, mental health concerns, or providing any necessary vaccinations.
For most patients, once your testing is complete and you’ve spoken with your doctor, your Wellness Visit is over! You can head home or carry on with your day.
If you need additional screening or you discover any health concerns, this step becomes more involved. Your doctor will speak with you further and potentially order more testing for another date. No matter the issue, we will work with you to schedule an additional appointment to check-in and develop a care plan.
